It connects to the fire brigade (Sapeurs Pompiers) who are fully equipped to handle medical emergencies.

This should be you first port of call for most life threatening emergencies.  If necessary they will arrive with SAMU (See below)

112 and 114 are 24/7 emergency number that can be called (free of charge) from any GSM mobile (in some cases even without a SIM) in any European country to alert the emergency services of your emergency needs irrespective of your location in Europe.

Hearing Assisted Call

114 is hearing assisted for those who are deaf or hard of hearing or who are suffering from a speech impediment to ensure un hampered communications. This is a universal number (See Above)
